Remember Beer Finings? - (Not the ones used today in home brew) … 40 years ago there used to be a product called “Theorit Beer Finings”.  It was a coarse powder in 1 lb packs,  used by the barman when filtering “slops” back into the barrel, as it helped prevent clouding.

(We would always keep 30 or so packs in stock, as it was a popular line.)  The product was banned  in the 1970’s (thankfully) on health grounds - The coarse powder contained   flaked asbestos !!!
